The weather forecast is changing. After spending the last decade focused on the impact of the cloud we now have to watch out for fog.
It is not a new concept but it is starting to be discussed more often. Fog computing (also known as Edge Computing) supports the Internet of Everything (IoE) concept, in which most of the devices used by humans on a daily basis will be connected to each other. Instead of data being passed to the cloud it is processed at local computing devices.
It looks like for the foreseeable future we are locked into using a meteorologists dictionary to describe every new architecture to support the growing need to manage the devices and data that drive our daily lives. What comes after the fog, maybe precipitation.
