Is the Universal Windows App a stroke of genius?

Microsoft’s universal Windows apps paves the way for developers to build one application that will work across phones, tablets, and PC’s. Is this a stroke of genius or just common sense?

The formula is simple, the more devices that are brought to market the more apps that developers need to build.

With the Wearables revolution on its way there are going to be no shortage of new devices that all need to be modified to support the new demands of the consumer. So developers are going to continue to have their hands full developing their Apps to support the devices across a number of operating systems.

So this move by Microsoft looks to take a common sense approach to what could be a solution to the complexity of App development.

Then again with the global penetration of the Windows Phone at 2% this is maybe the only way to attract developer to the platform.
