So we find out through the Financial Times today that internet giants Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Taboola have reportedly paid AdBlock Plus to allow their ads to pass through its filter software. Is this unethical or commercial?
For the 300 million users I guess if this is true they may be feeling ripped off right now. But then again the software is in fact free and Eyeo make money through their whitelisting program where advertisers can have their ads unblocked if they comply with their policy and for the larger companies they pay a fee.
With this in mind it does not really sound that dramatic, unless of course they are paying the money to not abide to their ad blocking policy and that has not been proven.
All sounds pretty commercial to me.
